Relative links

Links to PDFs and other documents, and to other pages on the Hart website, should be relative links. This means they are internal links and don’t have any part of a web address at the start.

Let’s say you wanted to create a new link to the Contact us page on the Hart website. Go to the page and copy the link. Depending on which version of the website you are training on, the URL would be either:

  • https://cms.hart.gov.uk/about-council/contact-us

or

  • https://www.hart.gov.uk/about-council/contact-us

To create a relative link, you’d only take the part ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­after­­­­­­­­ .uk.

So, the relative link you’d paste into the URL field would be: /about-council/contact-us

TIP: relative links always start with a forward slash
