Check if you need planning permission

The planning portal website has information about work that requires planning permission. It includes a useful interactive house diagram. Please note this information should only be used as guidance.

You may be able to make certain minor changes without applying for planning permission, under the property's permitted development rights. In some cases, these rights have been removed or limited. Building regulations may still apply.

To check if you need planning permission, you can complete our 'Do I need planning permission' form to receive an informal response from us. There is a charge for this service.

Do I need planning permission?

We aim to respond to your enquiry within 10 working days.

If you are thinking of lowering a kerb outside your property, you will be unlikely to need planning permission. However, you may have to submit a dropped kerb vehicle crossing application to Hampshire County Council.

For formal confirmation that your proposal is permitted development, you will need to apply for a lawful development certificate. When applying we would also recommend that you discuss your proposal with your neighbours.
