If you are purchasing or re-mortgaging a property or land and wish to find out information that may affect it, you can request a Local Land Charges (LLC) search. Searches are usually returned within 8-10 working days.
How do I submit a search request?
Please complete the official forms such as the LLC1 and CON29 (they can be obtained from any law stationer), and a good quality plan with the boundaries of the property clearly marked.
Searches can be submitted:
- by email to: email@example.com
- via NLIS Searchflow (the National Land Information Service) or the TM search portal
The cost of a Standard Search (LLC1 & CON29R) submitted this way is £152.
We cannot accept search requests submitted in hard copy format or process payments made by cheque. If this is the only choice for you, please contact us before posting anything to us, there is an increased cost of £188 and it will take longer to process if done this way.
For a list of all of our charges, please see the LLC fees sheet.
Payments can be made online (please specify the search address in the address field).
Please only make the payment online once you have received an email confirming the search has been checked and we are able to proceed.

Hart has made an online portal available to help access the Local Land Charges Register. It makes finding most Local Land Charges quicker and easier by showing entries on a map, and it also includes a range of useful search and sorting functions.
Unfortunately, we are unable to ensure the portal is a complete copy of the Local Land Charges Register. The portal therefore must not be relied upon on its own in order to conduct a Local Land Charges search within the Hart district. Hart cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information held on the portal alone and you should take adequate precautions if you wish to rely on the information.
If you are a Personal Search Agent, you may want to use Hart’s online planning portal and mapping system to verify and cross reference your results. Please read the user guide before using the system. If you are still uncertain about anything that does, or does not appear on a search, please contact the Land Charges team for further assistance via the contact details provided on this page. The Land Charges team will promptly investigate and respond to your enquiry.
