Pavement licence

If you want tables, chairs and other items outside your business premises, you'll need to apply for a licence

Temporary changes to planning and licensing procedures became law in 2020. Pavement licences introduced a fast-track process to make it easier for premises serving food and drink to seat and serve customers as lockdown restrictions were lifted and social distancing guidelines remained in place.

On 1 April 2024 these regulations were made permanent. We are currently updating our policy in relation to this. In the meantime, please follow the information and guidance on this page.

The fee for pavement licence has been set at £100 until September 2024.
