TRAINING: Editing guide overviews and guide pages

Introduction and creating your own dummy guide

How to make edits and navigate your way around guides on Drupal 9

We use a lot of guides on the Hart website. This training module is presented in guide format.

Like service pages, they’re one of the page formats available in Drupal 9.

Guides group together content on a single topic, making it easy for the user to:

  • see what’s in the guide
  • navigate quickly within the guide

Creating your own dummy guide

Please ask someone in Communications if you need help with this

Create your copy of the dummy guide page by:

  • going to TRAINING: dummy guide overview page
  • clicking on the Clone button in the top menu bar
  • renaming the cloned page by changing the title to your initials and the date e.g. ABC 8 March 2023
  • saving the page by clicking on the blue Save button

Now you'll need to add pages to the guide overview. Do this by:

  • going to Guide page 1
  • clicking on the Clone button in the top menu bar
  • renaming the cloned guide page by changing the title to Guide page 1 and your initials and the date e.g. Guide page 1 ABC 8 March 2023
  • linking the page to the version of the guide overview page you created earlier by
  • going to the guide overview field (third down from the top of the edit page) and
  • selecting the name of your guide overview (which will be at or near the bottom of the list)
  • saving the page by clicking on the blue Save button

Now do the same for:

You now have your own version of a guide, which you can practise on without affecting any other part of the website.
