A New Local Plan

The Council is preparing a new Local Plan for Hart. A local plan sets out a vision and framework for the future development of an area, with policies used to decide planning applications. The goal is to address the district’s need for new homes, commercial development and supporting infrastructure in a sustainable manner, to protect and enhance the environment and address climate change.

The new local plan will replace the Hart Local Plan (Strategy and Sites) 2032 and Saved Policies from the Hart Local Plan (Replacement) 1996-2006. 

Call for sites

A call for sites ran from 29 August 2025 until 5pm on 10 October 2025.

There will be further updates on the call for sites in due course. 

Local Plan timetable

The timetable for the new Hart Local Plan is set out in a Local Development Scheme approved at Cabinet on 16th September 2025.
