Licence lapses and interim authority notices

A licence may lapse in certain circumstances, such as when the premises owner:

  • dies
  • becomes bankrupt
  • becomes mentally incapable

In these cases, anyone interested in taking over the premises may apply for an interim authority notice. This will reinstate the licence for a set period.

When and how to apply for the interim authority notice

You must apply within 28 days of the licence lapsing.

Follow the instructions to submit your forms, supporting documents and pay the fee of £23.
