Whistleblowing
Whistleblowing is the action someone takes to report wrongdoing at work that affects others and/or the general public. Hart District Council is considered a 'Prescribed Person' under Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 because it has responsibilities relating to enforcement of food standards and health and safety. More details around our functions and objectives in relation to this can be found in our Food Safety Plan or on our Health and safety page.
To complete our reporting obligations in line with this, the Council received zero whistleblowing disclosures in the year 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, compared to one received in 2023/24.
Of these, it took further action on one of these disclosures by way of an independent investigation. The outcome and recommended actions were reported at the March 2025 Audit Committee.
