Unpaid carers play a vital role in supporting family members, friends or neighbours who cannot manage without help. Below is an overview of some of the rights you may have that protect your wellbeing, independence and ability to care.
Your right to choose

Your right to carer’s leave
Under the Carer’s Leave Act 2023, you are entitled to up to five days of unpaid leave per year to provide or arrange care.
