New and replacement bins

How to get a new bin and replace a damaged one

Bins for new properties

Bins for new properties must be purchased. Sometimes a developer will buy these for you, so please check with the developer who built your property before ordering.

A new property package includes a black waste bin, a blue recycling bin and a glass collection box. To order, please call 01252 622122.

Recycling bins

Recycling bins are for paper, card, tins, cans, aerosols and plastic bottles.

You can purchase extra recycling bins if needed by calling 01252 622122.

Glass recycling boxes

We provide a fortnightly, kerbside glass collection. All residents are provided with a green box for this collection.

Additional boxes are available free of charge and can be collected from the council offices in Harlington Way, Fleet, or ordered using the link at the top of this page.

Replacing damaged bins

You are responsible for buying a new bin should yours be damaged. However, bins damaged within two years of purchase will be replaced free of charge (please note, you will need to provide proof of purchase). After this time, damage is classed as fair wear and tear.

To order a new bin, please call 01252 622122.

If you believe your bin to be missing, there are some things you need to do before ordering a new one.

  • make sure that you have checked to see whether your bin has been moved away from your normal collection point
  • check to see if your bin has been accidentally claimed by one of your neighbours
  • check the surrounding areas carefully in case your bin has been returned to the wrong property

Additional bins

The standard allocation for all households within Hart District is one x 240-litre household waste bin.

This should be sufficient capacity if your household waste is managed effectively and you recycle all plastic bottles, tins, cans, aerosols, paper and card. However, if there are exceptional circumstances particular to your household, we will consider a request for an additional household waste bin if:

  • there are six or more people permanently living in the property, or
  • there are two or more children in nappies living with you permanently, or
  • you or someone in your household has a medical condition that results in additional waste such as incontinence waste or dressings. or
  • there are other exceptional circumstances

So we can process your request, you'll need to provide the following:

  • your contact details
  • the number of people living with you
  • supporting information relevant to your application

Make a request by completing the additional bin capacity application form:
