Traffic management
Local traffic management issues are undertaken by Hart District Council on behalf of Hampshire County Council, which mainly relate to parking and waiting restrictions.
Each year, the Council receives many requests to investigate traffic and road safety issues. We then develop a traffic management programme of schemes to alleviate issues in the district.
For the 2022-23 year, there are 20 schemes proposed. These can be seen on the Traffic Management Programme:
Traffic Regulation Orders
Traffic Regulation Orders allow highway authorities to impose restrictions on such things as parking, loading and unloading.
About traffic regulation orders
Hart District Council has delegated powers from Hampshire County Council to introduce traffic regulation orders for the following:
- Parking/waiting restrictions and prohibitions
- Loading/unloading
- Experimental traffic orders
Timescales for delivery traffic regulation orders
On average it takes between 9 and 12 months from design to implementation

We enforce all traffic regulation orders through our Parking Team of Civil Enforcement Officers
