Why the Council carries out affordable homes surveys

Affordable home surveys are carried out to seek feedback from new occupants of affordable rented and shared ownership homes within Hart.

This information is used to improve services provided to customers and to help guide how new affordable homes should be delivered in the future.

Lawful basis for processing personal data

We are processing the Affordable Homes Survey and any information provided on the basis of consent which respondents are asked to confirm when submitting a survey response.

By law, under the legal basis of ‘consent’, at any point you can ask the Council the following:

  • what information we hold about you.
  • to correct the information if it is inaccurate.
  • for the information to be erased.
  • for your consent to be withdrawn.

Personal data the Council will collect

The personal data the Council will collect from you includes:

  • your Internet Protocol (IP) address and details of which version of web browser you used
  • information on how you use the site, using cookies

The survey will not ask for any personal data to be provided by respondents.

Respondents are discouraged from providing personal data within the survey, however it is possible that personal data may be collected if respondents choose to provide information in the free text boxes provided.

  • name
  • postal address
  • email address
  • telephone number

The Council will be the data controller for any personal data that may be provided within this survey.

Who the data might be shared with

  • relevant staff
  • councillors
  • housing associations

No personal data that may be provided by respondents will be shared by the Council unless we are required to do so by law, or to prevent fraud. 

How long the Council will keep your data

Survey responses will only be kept for as long as is needed to process the results and will be kept no longer than six months.
