Funding to support households in need

Hart District Council has been granted a proportion of Hampshire County Council’s Household Support Fund to provide short-term help to households with food, energy and water bills and other related essentials.

The funds are limited, and the Council will prioritise those households in the most need. A proportion of the funds will be used to support households with disabilities and children.

This scheme runs until 31 March 2023, or until all funds have been allocated.

The primary purpose of the scheme is to support residents with expenses related to the rising cost of living. Housing costs can only be considered in exceptional circumstances where existing housing support schemes such as Housing Benefit, Universal Credit Housing Element, Discretionary Housing Payment and homeless prevention support do not meet the exceptional need.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:
•    be over the age of 16
•    live in the Hart District or have been placed outside the area by the Housing team
•    be without sufficient resources to meet the immediate short-term needs of themselves or dependants.

How to apply

To apply, please email hardship@hart.gov.uk with an outline of what exceptional housing-related crisis you are experiencing. An officer will be in touch within 10 working days from receipt of your email.

If you are unable to email you can also call 01252 774420 and leave a message with the team.

Please note, this is not a cash award, any award will be in the form of vouchers or paid direct to a supplier.

It may not always be possible to pay the full amount of funding requested due to the limited funds available.

What can’t we help with?

This fund cannot be used to provide mortgage support, although homeowners could still qualify for other elements such as food, energy, water, essentials linked to energy and water.

Where a homeowner is having difficulty with their mortgage payments, they should contact their lender as soon as possible to discuss their circumstances. In addition, our Housing team can offer advice and signpost to other organisations that can help.
