Stray dogs and animal welfare licensing

The law says you must get your dog microchipped. Breeders must microchip puppies before they are sold at eight weeks.

If you sell or re-home your dog, or change address, you must update the details on the microchip database.

By law, you must ensure your dog wears a collar with the name and address of the owner inscribed on it, or on a plate or badge attached to it. A telephone number is optional but always advised.
