Social housing in Hart
How to apply for our housing register and home exchanges
Hart housing register
We don’t own any social housing as a council. However, you can apply to have your name on our housing register if you want to be considered for housing association properties in Hart.
Our dedicated Hart Home Connections website has information about the housing register. You must be registered with the site to be able to search and bid for properties.
We recommend you also explore other housing options in addition to the housing register as a lot of people are looking for social housing and supply is limited.
New update for applicants
From 1 March 2026, we will be switching on the automatic annual renewals feature in Home Connections.
This means that on the one-year anniversary of submitting your application, you’ll receive a message asking you to log in and either confirm that nothing has changed with your application or update any changes to your circumstances.
You’ll have 28 days to do this, with reminders at 14 and seven days.
If we don’t hear from you within 28 days, your application will close automatically - so please keep an eye out for those messages.
Useful information
There is a handy section on frequently asked questions on the housing register website
If you have forgotten your log-in details, please complete the log-in details form to reset. If you are still experiencing issues accessing the portal, please contact the team on 01252 774420.
Please be advised that waiting times for social housing are lengthy, and the housing register should not be relied upon as a solution for urgent housing needs. We are in the process of compiling and analysing data, and will publish average waiting times once available.
If you are currently homeless or at risk of homelessness, we encourage you to complete a housing advice form so we can provide appropriate support and explore available options in the private rented sector.
