Hart District Council in partnership with Everyone Active have successfully secured £200,000 of funding through Sport England’s Swimming Pool Support Fund to install additional solar panels on the sports hall at Hart Leisure Centre.

Installing solar panels will significantly contribute towards reducing the site’s reliance on energy from the grid, by harnessing renewable solar energy to provide electricity to a substantial proportion of its operational activities.

The solar panels will help shield the Council and leisure centre operator Everyone Active from any future energy price increases as well as helping lower the site’s carbon footprint by reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

Hart District Council has committed to becoming a carbon neutral council by 2035 and it is anticipated that this installation will reduce this building’s annual carbon emissions by approximately 27 tonnes per year.

The Council continues to work with partners such as Everyone Active and local communities to tackle emissions across the district, drawing on local, national and global best practice.
