When you need a temporary event notice

About your event

  • no more than 499 people, including staff, can attend at any one time
  • it must last no more than seven days
  • you need a temporary event notice if you plan to sell hot food and/or hot drink between 11pm and 5am

Applying for more than one temporary event notice

  • if you do hold a personal licence, you can apply for up to 50 temporary event notices per year
  • non-licence holders can apply for a maximum of five temporary event notices per year
  • each event will require a separate temporary event notice
  • you must pay the fee of £21 for each temporary event notice given
  • there must be a gap of 24 hours between temporary event notices
  • you can currently apply for up to 20 temporary event notices for a single premises in one year 
  • the total length of the events mustn’t be more than 26 days 

Ensuring your event is safe

You must ensure your event protects the health, safety and welfare of anyone who may be affected in any way by the event. The organiser must be aware of, and comply with, all legislation relevant to the activity being undertaken. You can find general advice about safety for public events on our website.
