Food hygiene ratings can help you choose where to eat out or shop for food and drink. They give you clear information about hygiene standards in a business.

A business is given one of the six ratings:

  • 5 - very good
  • 4 - good
  • 3 - generally satisfactory
  • 2 - improvements necessary
  • 1 - major improvements necessary
  • 0 - urgent improvement necessary
