What is contaminated land?

Industrial processes, dumping, waste and other sources of contamination are to blame

Contamination is usually caused by:

  • industrial activities, or
  • disposal of rubbish/waste at tips and landfill sites

We have a duty to identify and investigate contaminated sites in Hart.

Please email us at eh@hart.gov.uk to ask about sites that may be contaminated as a result of former land use.
