What consultations are, open consultations, how you can respond to them and what happens next

What are consultations?

In a consultation, we ask for your views to help us understand what you think about something. 

The results help us to understand how you view our services, policies and strategies, and where we could make improvements. They also help us to understand your priorities and concerns. 

We feed the results back for consideration in the Council's decision-making process. They will be weighed against resource constraints, legislation and competing views.

Open consultations

There are currently no open consultations.

Past consultations within the last year

  • August - January 2025 - We held a call for sites consultation to help shape the new Hart Local Plan.
  • June - August 2025  - we sought views on what's important about the local area and how future councils should operate. This was part of the engagement phase of Local Government Reorganisation across Hampshire

We don’t run these consultations. They are run by other organisations but could affect residents and businesses within Hart.

Past consultations within the last year

  • The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government ran a consultation on local government reorganisation proposals for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight from 19 November 2025 to 11 January 2026.
  • The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government ran a consultation on Hampshire and the Solent devolution to establish a Mayor Combined County Authority across Hampshire, Portsmouth. Southampton and the Isle of Wight from 17 February to 13 April 2025
