Business continuity
Planning for unexpected disruption doesn't have to be difficult or take a lot of time
Business continuity is about ensuring your organisation can continue to function when something major goes wrong. The main types of disruption you can prepare for are:
- loss of premises (e.g. due to fire damage or because temporarily cordoned off by the police or health officials)
- loss of information communications technology (e.g. due to software/hardware issues or telecommunications failure)
- loss of staff (e.g. due to transport disruption or illness)
- loss of supplier (e.g. due to bankruptcy or experiencing an incident of their own)
Hampshire County Council has a business continuity plan on its website that advises businesses how to cope in a crisis.
