Need financial help? There could be a grant for your home
The government runs several schemes to help people upgrade the heating and insulation of their homes. Some of these grants have eligibility criteria based on income and/or vulnerability around personal health (e.g. susceptibility to the cold). However, some of these grants are dependent on your property's energy performance, and/or Council Tax band, instead of you as an individual.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme
Grants cover part of the cost of replacing fossil fuel heating systems such as a gas boiler in your home with a heat pump or biomass boiler. The scheme offers grants of:
- £7,500 towards an air source heat pump
- £7,500 towards a ground source heat pump including water source heat pumps and those on shared ground loops
- £5,000 towards a biomass boiler
