Eco-coding in schools
Through 2026, a selection of Hart schools have been taking part in Council funded Eco and Net Zero Coding Adventures, helping pupils learn and develop valuable coding skills whilst exploring real world environmental challenges.
From infants, through to secondary age, pupils have been using technology and creativity to learn how digital skills can support sustainability and climate change. The bespoke sessions have combined problem solving with environmental awareness, encouraging the pupils to think differently about both STEM subjects and sustainability.
One school that took part was Church Crookham Junior School:
"Taking part in the Eco‑Coding programme gave our pupils a meaningful way to combine coding with real‑world environmental issues. Pupils were highly motivated and developed confidence in problem‑solving, teamwork and computational thinking. The sessions were engaging and inclusive and pupils were excited to see how technology can be used to make a positive difference for the planet." Currently we are working on a schools resource pack which will include lesson plans and activities.
