Wildlife Day is back at Fleet Pond

The Hart District Council Wildlife Day is back on Sunday 2 June between 11am and 3pm for a free fun filled day at Fleet Pond nature reserve.

Join the Countryside Rangers for a day of hands-on learning including bug hunting, animal mask making and pond-dipping. There will be a host of stalls including The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, Fleet Beekeepers Association, RSPB Explorers and the Butterfly Conservation Trust. Many of the stalls are interactive, offering educational activities for all to enjoy.

Speaking about the event Cllr David Neighbour, Leader of Hart District Council and Portfolio Holder for Countryside, said: “This event not only showcases a beautiful nature reserve within our district, it also provides a great opportunity for the families of Hart to have fun in the great outdoors. Many thanks for the Countryside Team for their hard work in organising this event and to the external organisations who are taking part.”

Even though the event is free don’t leave your purse at home as there will be stalls selling various wildlife related items. Refreshments such as tea, coffee and ice cream will be available, as well as delicious hot food to buy.

The event will be signposted from all access points around the reserve pointing you in the direction of the stalls, so if you walk through Chestnut Grove or Wellington Avenue we will be easy to find. The event is suitable for all ages and dogs are welcome on a lead.

Car parking at Fleet Pond is limited to Blue Badge holders, so we are asking all other local visitors to leave the car at home and take a leisurely stroll to the site for a full ‘back to nature’ day.
