Cllr Graham Cockarill, Portfolio Holder for Place at Hart District Council said:
“In June 2019 Hart District Council was successful in joining the Government’s Garden Communities programme, following a bid back in November 2018, based on the area of Winchfield and Murrell Green, and given the operational name of Shapley Heath Garden Village.
We’re now taking the next steps, with this first important stage in the programme to explore the viability of a Garden Community with our residents and key stakeholders.
On Thursday 17 September 2019 we are bringing a report to the Overview and Scrutiny Committee to discuss how we can explore the opportunity to deliver a Garden Community through a place shaping approach based on the key principles of Garden Communities set out by central government.
Our approach is both collaborative and inclusive with representation from local communities and across political groups, to discover how we could create a vibrant, mixed use community where people will want to live, work and play for generations to come.”
Minutes from the meeting will be available on the Council’s website www.hart.gov.uk/meeting-agendas-minutes. For more general information about the Garden Community programme, please visit www.hart.gov.uk/garden-community
