Hart District Council has come together with local groups and services to celebrate Dementia Action Week 2018.
A range of activities will be happening across the district from Monday 21 to Friday 25 May including memory cafes, singing sessions, dementia-friendly cinema screenings, a Sporting Memories group and a dementia-friendly gym session at Hart Leisure Centre.
An information stall will also be available in the Hart Shopping Centre at various times during the week. People will be able to pop along to get information and advice from local dementia support services.
Liz Glenn, Health and Wellbeing Policy officer at Hart District Council said: “In the UK, one person develops dementia every three minutes. With the right support and opportunities to stay active, people can continue to live well with dementia.”
“We are grateful to all of the groups and services involved with this week. It is a great opportunity to raise awareness of dementia and promote the range of activities and support available to people living with dementia, their family and carers in Hart. Many of the activities happening during the week are regular activities so if you can’t take part in the week, you can still join activities at another time.”
