Small Business Saturday is back on 7 December to celebrate small businesses across the UK.
The national non-commercial campaign aims to highlight small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.
Now in its seventh year in the UK, the campaign has grown significantly each year with an estimated £812m spent in small businesses across the UK on 2018’s Small Business Saturday - an 8% increase on last year.
Hart District Council has agreed to waive car parking charges in all District Council owned car parks on Saturday 7 December, between the hours of 8am and midnight, to support Small Business Saturday. This is the seventh year the Council has supported the campaign by offering free parking.
Hart District Council’s Economic Development Officer, Harriet Hunt said: “The Council is delighted to be supporting Small Business Saturday again by offering free car parking for the day. This campaign is a great way to encourage visitors and residents to enjoy a day out supporting local businesses while soaking up the festive season atmosphere.”
The Council is encouraging residents to start their Christmas shopping by going to visit neighbouring towns that they wouldn’t normally visit. By supporting the event, it will positively enhance the economic climate and strengthen town and village centres in Hart.
