The Job
An exciting new opportunity has arisen at Hart for a position as Countryside Ranger, to cover a 9-month period over summer and winter. Main duties will include carrying out activities on site such as tree works, H&S inspections, practical repair work, hay making, arranging contractor works, working with volunteers and some site management responsibilities. You will be working both within the ranger team and independently and will be able to use your existing skills to hit the ground running. There is an opportunity for training in the use of machinery such as tractor driving, for the right candidate.
The Applicant
You should be:
- Enterprising, resourceful, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
- Practical and experienced in the use of a wide range of relevant machinery such as tractors, chainsaws and brush-cutters would be desirable.
- Used to physically demanding requirements.
You should have:
- Knowledge of managing a variety of habitats.
- Experience of practical working outdoors and in public open spaces.
- A passion for connecting people with the environment and be willing to share your wildlife knowledge.
- Good communication skills.
- A flexible approach to working is essential as weekend and evening hours are required.

The Job
An excellent opportunity has arisen to work for Hart District Council’s multi-award-winning Countryside Department, providing one year of maternity cover for our Senior Ranger.
The Senior Ranger will be responsible for delivering the Council priorities through increasing our profile, presence, and impact, whilst providing safe, well managed and welcoming sites to enable this to happen.
The Applicant
You should be:

The Job
The District enjoys a high population of trees, but faced with the challenge of climate change and the need to combat species decline, our trees need our help more than ever. We are offering a permanent position for this vital role within a small team committed to ensure the appropriate management of trees in Hart District Council’s open spaces, woodlands and nature reserves.

The Applicant
- Delivering the Council’s responsibilities in relation to trees
- Provide expertise on all aspects relating to tree risk and tree management, woodland management, and the preparation and review of related strategies and policies, including environmental enhancements and climate change adaptation.
- Deliver the Council’s Tree Strategy in support of the agreed Local Plan and other National / Local Policy’s
- To maintain a high degree of financial accountability and accuracy
- Supporting the Landscape Manger by managing staff, contractors and consultants, where appropriate
