This secluded parish of charming scenery extends northwards to Berkshire. A Roman Road from London to Bath, now called the Devil's Highway, can still be traced between Riseley and Park Comer.
Heckfield Place and Highfield House are two fine country houses to be found in the parish.
The Stratfield Saye Estates occupies the north-western comer of this parish and was purchased by a grateful nation in 1817 and presented to Arthur Wellesley, first Duke of Wellington, after his victory at Waterloo. The House and Wellington Country Park are open to the public for much of the year.
