Free welcoming spaces you can visit to keep warm and meet new people

Community organisations, charities, places of worship and libraries are providing warm, safe spaces many offering extras such as free wi-fi, refreshments and activities.

Hart District Council civic offices

We are open Mondays to Fridays from 8.30 – 5pm (4.30pm on Fridays).

Libraries

All libraries across Hampshire run regular drop-in centres.

Fleet Library (next to the Harlington centre, 236 Fleet Road)

  • Chat About - every Monday (except public holidays) from 11am – noon.
  • Singalong - relaxed sessions for adults of all ages with popular songs from many eras. Every Monday (except public holidays) from 2.15 – 3.15pm.
  • Community Connections - every Wednesday, 10am – noon. A free drop-in for a chat, helpful information and signposting.
  • Craft and Chatter - every Wednesday, 10am – noon. An opportunity to chat and share ideas while you craft.
  • Games Morning - every Friday from 10am – noon. A free drop-in with games provided, but feel free to bring your own.

Fleet Library has an honesty box if you would like a tea and coffee.

Yateley Library (School Lane)

  • Craft and Natter – every Monday, 10am – noon. Bring your current project into the library and meet other crafters to exchange ideas and enjoy a friendly natter
  • Stay and Play - construction, toys, board games for all ages held every Monday from 3.15 – 4.30pm.
  • Book Club - every 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10am – noon.
  • Chat About - every Friday, 10.45 –.45am. A weekly drop-in to meet new people.

Hartley Wintney

  • St John's Church - Fleet Road, RG27 8ED. Wellbeing group every Monday 10am – 11.30am. Contact: Sylvia Evans Pritchard on 01252 842215 ext 26.
  • Methodist Church - 61 High Street RG27 8NY. Coffee mornings on Wednesdays 10am – noon in the hall behind the church.

Heckfield

The True Living Centre, Holdshott Farm, Reading Road, Heckfield, RG27 0JZ.

A safe, comfortable and confidential place to chat over a hot drink and biscuit with others. It also offers crafts and card games and a chance to talk to a Citizens Advice Outreach Advisor once a month. 

Cafes in community spaces

All Saints Church Rooms - Croft Lane, Crondall, Surrey, GU10 5QF

Open every Friday and Saturday 9am – 12.30pm, serving freshly ground coffee and tea, with fresh home-made cakes. Both cash and cards accepted. Dogs welcome!

Café 46, next to St Peter’s Church - 101 Reading Road, Yateley, GU46 7LR

Café 46 is run by a mix of staff and volunteers - the café is open Mondays – Saturdays 9am – 4pm. Open for breakfast, lunch, coffee, tea or an afternoon treat. 

The Community Café at Yateley Industries - Mill Lane, Yateley, GU46 7TF

Open Mondays – Fridays, 9am – 3pm..

Open for coffee, tea, cake, all day breakfast, sandwiches, light bites,and more. 

Yateley Industries also runs a Chatty Café table every Thursday 10:30am – 12:30pm, with volunteers who are there to chat to anyone who pops in. No expectation to buy anything, feel free to just drop in and chat away!

Church on the Heath – The Key, Elvetham Heath, Fleet, GU51 1HA

Open Mondays – Fridays 9.30am – noon and Saturdays and school holidays 10am – noon.

The Coffee Bar is a warm and welcoming place serving a range of drinks and homemade cakes, with free Wi-Fi.

Fleet Parish Community Centre – Church Road, Fleet, GU51 4NB

Open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10am – noon. Coffee Bar volunteers serve hot and cold drinks long with homemade cakes and biscuits

Coffee Shop on the Green - behind Blackwater & Hawley Leisure Centre, Fernhill Road, Blackwater, GU17 9BW

Open Mondays – Saturdays 9am – 5pm and Sundays 10am – 4pm.

Serving hot drinks, cakes, pastries and sandwiches. It is good spot to meet before or after an activity at Blackwater and Hawley Leisure Centre, or after a walk around Hawley Woods.

St John’s Church coffee shop - Fleet Road, Hartley Wintney, RG27 8ED

Open Mondays – Fridays 10am – noon, Saturdays 9.30am – 12.30pm, Sundays after 10.45am Service until noon.

The Coffee Shop serves hot and cold drinks and range of homemade cakes. Gluten-free options are usually available.

Hartletts Café - Hook Community Centre, Ravenscroft, Hook, RG27 9NN

Open: Mondays  – Fridays 8am – 4.30pm, Saturdays 8am – 4pm, Sundays 9am – 3pm..

There is a varied menu of snacks and hot and cold drinks, including a full breakfast menu, sandwiches, omelettes and baked potatoes.
