Corporate Information
The most important document to the council is the Constitution. This details the legal framework in which the council is governed, how it uses its decision-making structures and the ‘rules’ by which it operates.
The council publishes a long term Corporate Plan which sets out the short and medium term priorities and objectives. This is accompanied by a Medium Term Financial Strategy (MTFS) which explains how the council will spend the income it receives from council tax, government grants and other sources.
Corporate governance is the set of processes, policies, laws and regulations affecting the way a corporation is administered and controlled. Every autumn, the Audit Commission publish an Annual Governance Report containing a critical look at the governance of the council in the previous financial year, and recommendations for improvement.
