Freedom of Information
Freedom of Information (FOI) gives anyone the "right to know" about any information held by public bodies, including Hart District Council. You have the right:
- to be told if Hart DC holds the information you want.
- and, if we do, to be given a copy of it.
There are some exemptions to this and you might be required to pay a fee.
Hart DC is committed to openness. It increases public confidence in our ability to deliver our services. You can still get information from us in the same ways you have used in the past. But in addition, now you can:
- Look on Hart’s Publication Scheme which sets out a wide range of information that does not need an FOI request
- Look at Hart’s A-Z of services which sets out a list of our services
- Request data about yourself make a subject access request under the Data Protection Act
- Request Environmental Information (e.g. about air & atmosphere, water, soil, land and landscapes etc.) and make a request under Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)
- Request information under Freedom of Information
