The Valuation of Annexes  

The government announced proposals that where an annex or similar self contained part of a property is occupied by a elderly of disabled relative of the Council Tax payers, then it should not be regarded as a separate dwelling for Council Tax purpose. This came into effect on 1st April 1997.
