Timetable for the Parish Boundary Review
- Report to DCLG giving progress on consultation: 7th December 2006
- Initial consultation on the scope of a Parish boundary review had to be completed within 6 months from receipt of the petition, it was completed by DSWG* and presented to Cabinet: March 2007
- DSWG have proposed to undertake a “Sense of Place” questionnaire during summer 2007. This will be used to inform members as to the views of the community about likely parish and community boundaries; recommendation to Full Council: March 2007
- Brief circulated to Market Research Companies for the sense of place survey in the unparished and peripheral areas of Hart: June 2007
- The successful market reasearch company was commissioned as of: 10th July 2007
- Completion of field research and report from the market research company: mid September 2007
- Sense of Place results to DSWG meeting: 3rd October 2007 (see opposite), which recommended a proposal for the future parishing of the district, using the information from the sense of place survey
- The form of public consultation was agreed by Council: 25th October 2007
- Public Consultation on future parishing of the unparished area (Fleet and Church Crookham) by way of a public ballot: commencing 15th January 2008
- Public and Parish Councils invited to comment (see Notice above). Consultation period to be from 6th December 2007 to 25th February 2008. This may not result in changes for all or any of the parish areas
- Outlining preliminary recommendation for the unparished area and advising of progress with the periphery and surrounding parishes with a Report to Council: 27th March 2008
- Public and Parishes invited to make comments on the consultation by 30th June 2008
- DSWG to report to Council on final results on initial consultation and make any final proposals: Summer 2008
- Publication of final proposal and invitation to comment: Autumn 2008
- Submission of final report to Secretary of State for DCLG (is subject to change due to new legislation) and Electoral Commission: Autumn/Winter 2008
- Council to determine future of Special Expenses/shared assets/transfer to new authority: Autumn/Winter 2008
- Ending of special expenses and the creation of shadow parish council(s): March 2009
- Earliest date for elections to any new parish council(s): May 2010.
All dates are dependent on the decisions made by Council and therefore may be subject to change.
*DSWG = Democratic Structures Working Group is a cross party group of members and officers formed by cabinet to look at democratic structures across the authority.
