Boundary Reviews
The boundaries for electoral areas, be they Parliamentary Constituencies, County Divisions or District Wards are periodically reviewed. The main reason for such boundary reviews is to ensure that the electorate of each area is equally represented on the elected body.
The Boundary Commission is conducting a general review of Parliamentary Constituencies. Draft recommendations affecting Hampshire, and particularly the Hart District, were published on 14 February 2002. The proposals were the subject of local inquiries which opened on 18 June 2002. There may be an affect on the constituencies within the Hart District and further information will be posted on this web site when available.
The Local Government Commission for England carried out a review of the District of Hart's own electoral requirements and made recommendations to Government for alterations in the District's Ward boundaries. The proposals were approved and the changes came into force on 2 May 2002 when a new Council was elected to represent the people of Hart. For the results of these elections click on the link.
There are now 18 Wards in the District of Hart returning 35 Councillors. For further information on the Wards and the Councillors please follow the appropriate links.
