Code of Corporate Governance
Hart has defined Corporate Governance as: - "The way in which the Council conducts itself so as to (a) deliver effective services to all residents and (b) provide and openly demonstrate efficient stewardship of public funds."
Corporate Governance is underpinned by the five fundamental principles of openness, inclusivity, integrity, accountability and effectiveness.
The corporate governance framework consists of five interlocking dimensions: -
- Community Focus
- Service Delivery Arrangements
- Structures and Processes
- Risk Management and Internal Control
- Standards of Conduct
Hart's Code of Corporate Governance addresses the issues of openness, inclusivity, integrity, accountability and effectiveness for each of the five dimensions, as appropriate. It describes how Hart has responded to the challenges of Corporate Governance and commits the Council to the highest standards. It was last reviewed in May 2008 and is available in Adobe Acrobat format from the downloads area to the right of the screen.
