Making Comments on a Planning Application
Please note that at this time you can only use the Planning Online service with Internet Explorer
Planning applications are publicised by the Council, by informing neighbours with a direct boundary to the application site, publicising a weekly list of planning applications through Planning Online, asking applicants to display a site notice and where required through a press advertisement.
You can make representations on planning applications by using the Planning Online service (available between the hours of 7am and 11pm). This facility accepts representations in text form only without formatting. The system does not accept attachments.
Search for the the planning application you would like to comment on and submit your comments using the 'Submit Comments' link at the top of the screen. You should focus your concerns on material planning matters, please see our 'Making comments on a planning application' leaflet. Please note that all comments received are published online and are available for inspection by the public, applicants and Councillors. The Council's procedure note for this is available in the downloads area.
We will publish your name and address, however to reduce the chances of identity theft the following is suggested:
- Please omit personal information such as telephone numbers or email addresses from correspondence.
- If you wish to send in representations by email you should send them as an attachment to the email rather than in the email itself.
- The Council will take into account unsigned representations, but does require a name and a postal address.
Applications are decided either under delegated powers (determined by the Head of Planning Services) or by the Planning Committee which meets monthly. You can register to speak at the Planning Committee here.
In the event of a subsequent appeal any comments you make on the original application will be forwarded to the Planning Inspectorate, but the Council will write to advise you if an appeal has been submitted, enabling you to make further representations where permitted. Please see Appeals for further information.
The information that we publish on the Internet
As part of the move to e-enable services, we are asked to make information from our planning and building control registers and databases available on our website. Given that this may result in some personal information about individuals being disclosed it is important that we comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998. Please take a look at the information that we publish on the internet.
