Water Cycle Study Scoping Report
Six Local Authorities in the Blackwater Valley area, including Hart District Council, have commissioned Halcrow to undertake a Water Cycle Study (WCS) Scoping Report. The other local authorities involved are the following Borough Council’s: Rushmoor, Guildford, Surrey Heath, Bracknell Forest and Wokingham.
The Water Cycle Study Scoping Report was undertaken to:
- Undertake a review of the existing work, plans and studies undertaken to date to define key issues
- Define the programme for a subsequent Outline Study
- Identify the objectives of the Water Cycle Study and which plans and strategies it will be used to inform and draw from
- Identify if further work is needed to inform planning decisions
Water Cycle Studies are not a statutory requirement. However, Hart will be building on the WCS Scoping Report, by working with the Environment Agency, Hampshire County Council, Thames Water, South East Water and other relevant bodies to ensure that the growth proposed in the Hart Local Development Framework is sustainable with respect to the water environment and water infrastructure.
At this stage the six local authorities involved in the Scoping Report have not yet determined whether to proceed with the recommendation that a subsequent WCS Outline Study should be undertaken.
