Glass collection for all –at last

HOUSEHOLDS throughout Hart will have regular glass collections from February 4 with the delivery of the council’s long awaited, custom made glass collection vehicle.

The new 7.5 tonne vehicle will enable Hart to collect glass from properties in outlying and hard to reach areas. Crates for glass are currently being delivered to them and all residents have been contacted.

The council currently collects about 185 tonnes of glass each month. Since the introduction of collections at the end of 2006 the amount of glass at “bottle bank” sites has only dropped by half.

The total glass collection increase has been a contributory factor in the big boost to recycling figures over the past year, among the best in the country.
