Surge in interest for Hart Healthy Workplace Award Scheme
THIS year’s Hart Healthy Workplace Award Scheme is likely to be much larger than for the inaugural one in 2007.
Organiser Virginia Taylor says enquiries are far greater than at this time last year.
She added: “It is not too late for others to join –the deadline is not until August
30.”
John Harrocks, Chief Executive of North Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, declared: “Following the success of last year’s awards I would encourage all businesses in Hart to consider entering this year.”
The focus is on health and safety, healthy eating, physical activity, quitting smoking and stress in the workplace. There are three levels to aim for –bronze, silver and gold- and judging is based on the entrants’ submissions as well as comments from employees. Sponsors include the Four Seasons Hotel, Dogmersfield and Frimley Park Hospital.
This year’s awards presentation will be at the Four Seasons on November 4.
Terry Honeker from Pinto Potts, silver winner in 2007, commented:” At first I thought we wouldn’t be able to apply but when I sat down and listed the things Pinto Potts offered employees I was surprised.
“Fresh fruit every day, gym facilities, a ride to work scheme, even things like walking in the park can be put down.
“We were pleasantly surprised to receive a silver standard and we are now going that little bit further to hopefully attain gold in 2008. It is not as daunting as you may initially think and the rewards are many.”
