Hart to hand over Velmead Centre to Crookham Village parish council
WORK is to start this summer on the refurbishment of the Velmead Community Centre.
Hart Council has approved the spending of about £360,000 on the work as part of its agreement to transfer the centre to Crookham Village Parish Council.
“Significant improvements will be made to the outdoor changing facilities as well as the internal layout of the building,” said a Hart spokesman. “All stakeholders will be informed of dates once they have been finalised.”
The handover will be subject to a nominal payment of £1 from the parish council. It is due to take effect in March 2011 following a period of joint management.
Velmead Community Centre was provided by developers of the area now known as Zebon Copse in the early Nineties. Its ownership was then transferred to Hart.
