Fleet Town Centre Vision Launched
HART District Council announced this week that it has commissioned a study to produce a long term vision for the development of Fleet Town centre. It is to be published next year –together with Hart’s development plan for the next 20 years.
Cllr Richard Appleton, who chairs the working group, says: “This is a major opportunityfor everyone to have a say in shaping the future of their town.
“The vision must be a blueprint and not a straitjacket. For it to be truly meaningful it will have to be owned and supported by businesses and residents alike.”
Hart is working with its partners at Hampshire, the new Fleet Town Council and the Health Trust in producing the vision.
Denning Male Polisano, local architects with extensive experience of this type of work, have been appointed and the project team is being led by Martin Pearson, whose last project – a vision for Horsham town centre- was highly acclaimed.
Further details will be issued over the coming weeks of how people can play their part in drawing up the vision. The consultation process will include public exhibitions, (the first at the beginning of December), and it will aim to reach as many people as possible –including young people.
Says Cllr Appleton: “This is about the whole community –not just a few councillors –having a say in how the town centre should develop.”
