Canal Conservation Area Consultation Starts
HART District Council this week began the review of the Basingstoke Canal Conservation Area.
The draft document started a six week consultation period last Tuesday. The draft document and maps can be viewed on the Built Heritage, Conservation Area Review web pages.
Comments are welcomed from everyone interested in the Basingstoke Canal Conservation Area and all comments will be taken into consideration prior to agreement of the final documents, which may be used to support planning policy guidance.
Details of the review will be displayed for two weeks in the reception area of the Harlington Centre in Fleet from June 29.
All comments can be sent by email to heritage@hart.gov.uk or posted to the Landscape and Conservation Section, Planning Services at Hart District Council, Harlington Way, Fleet, Hants GU51 4AE
Cllr Richard Appleton, Hart’s portfolio holder for Planning and Regulation, commented: “Conservation areas play an important role in the planning process, helping to preserve areas of note from inappropriate development.
“To be effective it is essential that these policies are kept up to date, which is why Hart is committed to its rolling programme of reviewing and updating them all.”
