Strike likely to disrupt Hart bin collections
HART is expecting all of its waste collection services to be disrupted next week when members of UNISON stage a two day national strike.
The effects are likely to be felt on the two days of the strike (July 16 and 17) as well as on Friday July 18.
Hart’s Waste Manager Sarah Incher said: “The council will try its best to carry out all collections on these days. However, should we be unable to get all crews out because of the strike we will concentrate on ensuring that all black bins are collected over the three days.”
She said residents due to have blue bins, glass boxes and green waste collected on those days should put out the containers as normal and Hart would try to collect them. They should be left out until Friday afternoon and if still uncollected retained until the next collection a fortnight later –when any excess would be collected.
She concluded: “Please accept Hart District Council’s apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to collect as much as we can over the three days but the priority will be black bins.”
Residents are urged to check Hart’s website www.hart.gov.uk for further details and updates about the three days. They are asked not to telephone the council unless absolutely necessary.
