Karen gets her cash back –thanks to Hart District Council
SINGLE Mum Mrs Karen Jones has some extra cash to spend on her two children –thanks to a scheme run by Hart District Council.
Karen, whose children are aged 13 and 14, was lent the rent deposit when she took them into private accommodation in Hook three years ago after many years living in RAF quarters.
As she remained on the Sentinel Housing Association waiting list she paid the money back in instalments.
Now the family is installed in a Sentinel home in Recreation Road, Odiham where Hart’s Housing and Health Cabinet Member, Cllr Susan Band, (right in picture) presented her with a cheque for £424.12 representing the deposit that the council had recovered from the previous landlord.
Mrs Jones commented: “The landlord was going to withhold the money because I had put in things like new curtains and lampshades. But I had left it clean and Hart officers Janet McLoughlin and Katrina Pearce worked hard to get the deposit back. I am delighted –I could not have done it without them.”
