Football Club Lighting Grant Approved
Hart District Council’s Cabinet has agreed to offer a grant of £6,000 to Fleet Town Football Club to help them modernise their floodlighting installation.
The change will help to reduce nuisance caused to neighbours of the club, who have suffered from glare from the current floodlights shining into their homes. The new installation should also be more eco friendly and reduce the club’s electricity bill.
The overall cost of the installation is expected to be around £20,000, and the club are hopeful that the Football Foundation will contribute 40% (£8,000) of the cost. The district council is offering to fund half the remainder, with the club looking to fund the other half from other sources.
The Leader of the Council, Cllr Ken Crookes, said: “We hope that modernising the lights will be good news for both the football club and neighbouring residents.”
