Jobs Surgeries –a Great First Year
THE ground breaking Job Centre Plus advice surgeries for Hart people looking for work have been a smash success since they were launched by Hart District Council’s housing service last July.
At the sessions, held at the Civic Offices in Fleet on Friday mornings, Jobcentre Plus advisers are on hand to give advice about local vacancies, help and support for people to get back to work, help with looking for work and applying for jobs and benefits for those who return to work.
The service was one of the first in the country and was designed to help with unemployment during the recession. Before then Hart job seekers had to visit job centres at Farnborough, Camberley or Basingstoke.
The service is by appointment only.
All Job Centre Plus services are available at Fleet including new and existing claims, better off at work calculations, assistance with finding work and training. It is provided at no cost to Hart.
Cllr Chris Butler, Hart’s Cabinet member for Health and Housing commented: “Since this service has been introduced Hart residents have benefited from expert advice and support in a much more local way than previously possible.
“The added benefit of having this and the housing benefit service in close proximity has enabled many residents in difficult circumstances to access all available help at the same time. I look forward to its continued success.”
