Big Road Safety Push at Yateley
ROAD safety is to be the theme of the next Crime Reduction and Environment Week to be held at Yateley.
The event (November 23-29) coincides with National Road Safety Week and the focus will be on all aspects of road safety.
The police will be stepping up patrols in the town and the fire service will give safety talks to young people.
There will also be a chance for residents to meet members of the local police, fire service and community safety teams at the Yateley Waitrose car park on Wednesday November 25 (1-3.30pm).
Hart vice-chairman, Cllr Colin Ive, who also chairs Hart Road Safety Council, said: “This event is a first class example of partnership working across agencies to promote the essential message of road safety to our community.”
He continued: “Young and old can learn and re-learn the road safety messages and help protect the families of our district. Well done ‘Safer Hart’ for organising this important week –such work saves lives.”
Cllr Nippy Singh, portfolio holder for Community safety and Licensing, commented: “Road safety is an extremely important issue, especially during dark evenings so I am delighted to see ‘Safer Hart’ working in partnership to raise awareness of dangers.
The CREW event will also incorporate a front garden competition. People in Yateley are invited to nominate attractive front gardens within the town with a £25 gardening voucher awaiting the winner. Nominations to Richard Denham on 01252 774229 or email richard.denham@hart.gov.uk
