Courtmoor opts for Fleet in parish ballot
VOTERS in Fleet’s Courtmoor ward voted to join the new Fleet parish in the consultative ballot that closed on Monday.
The final figures showed 862 votes for the Fleet option (52.37%) with 782 votes (47.51%) for becoming part of the new parish of Church Crookham. There were two spoilt papers.
The turnout was 44.29% -sharply up on the 38.13% achieved in the earlier consultation in January.
The result is non-binding and will go to Hart’s Democratic Structures Working Group, which begins its review next week.
It will also be looking at the remaining consultations concerning issues in Blackwater and Hawley, Yateley and Crondall parishes. Final decisions on the whole parish review will be taken at the full Council meeting on September 25.
The first elections to the new parish councils will take place alongside the normal district elections in May 2010.
