Hart Steps up Dog Warden Service
HART District Council recently introduced a new out of hours dog warden service for reporting both lost and found dogs.
It can be found on the same number as that used to report noise and housing issues –0845 6770678.
Now that the duty of dealing with stray dogs out of hours has passed from the police to local authorities animal wardens will be removing dogs found in Hart to kennels –where they can be retrieved by owners on the next working day.
Hart has appointed a new dog warden -Lisa Jessup.
Lisa says that most complaints to the council concern fouling. Although the situation in parks and common land has improved there is still a lot of fouling of footpaths between houses.
Countryside and community rangers are helping Lisa in tracking down offenders. Free “poo bags” are available at the Civic Offices in Fleet as well as at council offices in Hook, Yateley and Blackwater.

This year Hart is taking part in the “Caught Doing Right” scheme. People who are spotted picking up their pets’ mess will be handed a “praise postcard” which they can send in post free to be entered into a prize draw next March. The top national prizes are a year’s supply of dog food or a visit to Cruft’s –there will also be a local prize.
